Hold a tiny masterpiece in your hands — a devotional piece that carries deep reverence and radiant beauty. This handcrafted rosary centerpiece features the painting, "Pieta" 1876 Detail. This painting was completed following the death of Bougureau's son Geroges. Georges was Bougureau's oldest child and passed at age 16. In the image Mary's grief is powerful with tear stained and reddened eyes, wearing a black robe and holding the lifeless body of her dear son Jesus close to her breast. This is another of Bougureau's painting where the emotion is raw and so well communicated in his art that one feels the pain along with Mary.

In Bouguereau's paintings, especially those depicting children and sorrow and resonate and elicit emotion. Bouguereau was well acquainted with grief. In addition to his beautiful wife Nellie, four of his five children passed before adulthood. He was a devout Catholic and began to train for the priesthood at 14 when he entered the college of Pons where he learned to draw and paint. He was prolific in his life. His Catholic paintings will be represented in this series of Rosary centerpieces and pendants.

The images are very high DPI images that have been reduced to 25x18mm or .984 Inches by .709 inches. This image retains it's crisp and sharp imagery and detail making it a lovely Masterpiece to use on a Rosary or as a pendant.

About the Artist:
Bouguereau was a devout Catholic, originally studying for the priesthood before turning to art. His life was steeped in sorrow — he lost four of his five children and his first wife Nelly — yet he created works that radiated tenderness and hope. His paintings, especially those centered around faith and motherhood, resonate his life experience and devotion. This collection honors the works of Bouguereau and other luminaries who created, through the grace of God these works to deepen our love and devotion to him and his plan for us.
